Full Himachal in 11 days: what the trip actually covers

Shimla to Amritsar by train and road - the route, the snow points, and the small costs worth knowing before you book.

Eleven days, one train ticket and just about every corner of Himachal worth
seeing. Our Full Himachal departure runs from Gandhinagar and loops through
Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Kasol, Dalhousie and Amritsar before bringing you home.

What the route actually looks like

You leave Gandhinagar by train and wake up in Chandigarh. From there it is
straight up to Shimla for two nights, then Kasol and Manikaran on the way to
Kullu, two nights in Manali with a full day at the snow point, a long scenic
drive to Dalhousie for Khajjiar, and finally Amritsar for the Wagah Border
ceremony and the Golden Temple.

The bits people always ask about

  • Jakhoo Temple – tempos cannot make the climb, so it is a
local car from the parking, roughly ₹200-250 per person.
  • Rohtang and the Atal Tunnel – both depend on permission
and weather. We go as far as the vehicle safely can.
  • River rafting in Manali – included, not an add-on.

When to go

Departures run every week from October through April. Dates around the
festive and New Year peak carry a seasonal supplement, so if you are flexible,
the first half of a month is usually the better value.

Full day-by-day itinerary, inclusions and fares are on the
packages page.
